Communication classes at Normandale are never going to be the same

Jane Elizabeth Turk of Edina, a local college instructor at Normandale Community College, died unexpectedly on September 21st in Bloomington, Minnesota. 
Turk was 30 years and was born the first of February, 1980, at Fairview, Southdale in Edina. She graduated from St. Louis Park Senior High School in 1998.
She attended Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minn. in 2002. Jane found inspiration through music which lead her to be a radio DJ and General Manager of WMCN 91.7 FM.
She graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York, from where she earned a Master in Arts in 2004 and a Master in Philosophy in 2006.  Currently, Turk was in the ABD.
She came back to Minnesota where she worked at Normandale Community College as instructor.
“The classes, the assignments, and jokes will not be the same without Professor JET around.” Garret, a communication student of Normandale said. “We will miss her.” 
The instructor and book critic Turk was an active member of Society of Cinema and Media Study and New Media Society Journal. Her last contribution was a book review from “Conglomerate Rock,” in 2009.
Jane’s family will remember her as “curious, perfectionist and funny,” but also for her favorite quote of “never stop learning.”
Jane is survived by her parents Louis and Carolyne. Her sister Lindsey, and her partner Brendan Themes.
Funeral service is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 5pm. at Lake Harriet Bandshell, 43rd St. W and E Lake Harriet Parkway Minneapolis, MN 55409.
